Starlink in India: What’s the Big Deal with Jio and Airtel?
There is a new partnership between Elon Musk’s company “SPACE X” and two of India’s biggest telecom companies, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
The goal of this deal is to bring its “Starlink” satellite internet service to India. So that rural and remote areas of the country can have high-speed internet service.
It is an enormous push forward for India’s digital growth:
India is quickly getting more and more people who use the internet. Still, a lot of rural and remote areas don’t have safe and fast internet access.
In order to bring internet to these areas, “Starlink” satellite service will play a significant part; where regular internet services can’t reach.
In what ways does the partnership between Jio and Airtel matter?
For SpaceX’s Starlink service to work in India, it needs a strong distribution network. This partnership with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel will play a significant part in the success of this goal.
