Generations shape us. Two important ones are “Gen X” and “Gen Z”. Gen X was born between 1965 and 1980, while Gen Z was born between 1997 and 2012… They grew up in very different times, which influenced the way they think and act.

Technology:

“Gen X” grew up before the internet and smartphones. They used landline phones, watched TV shows at scheduled times and read newspapers… If they had to learn something new, they went to the library. Communication for them was more face-to-face or through phone calls and letters.

On the other hand, “Gen Z” has only known the world with the internet. They grew up with smartphones, social media and information… They communicate mainly through text, emojis and social media. For them, the world is at their “tip of the fingers”.

They can learn anything with a quick search on “Google” or by watching tutorials on “YouTube”. How does this instant access shape the way they think and solve problems? Differences in thinking: “Gen X” is more patient and values in-depth, personal communication. “Gen Z” prefers quick, digital interactions and values faster solutions.
