In any democratic society, Media plays a vital role as the fourth Pillar of Society- which keeps a check on those in power & provides an important information to the public. To ensure the smooth functioning of this important institution, laws & rules have been made to regulate media activities.

However, the implementation of these laws often runs counter to their intended purpose.

In spite of the existence of media laws, their practical implementation is often influenced by a number of factors- including ; political interference, economic pressures & social attitudes.

This article highlights the complexities of media laws, exploring the reasons behind the gap between Theory & Practice.

Media Law is generally designed to complete several fundamental objectives, including protecting; Freedom of speech & Expression, and Protecting the Rights of Journalists, It Ensures Transparency & Accountability by Maintaining Ethical Standards within the industry. These laws are essential to maintaining a Free & Fair media landscape that promotes the democratic Principles & allows for the Dissemination of diverse viewpoints.
